manifesting success

hey you !

today i'm studying for my resit exams (yes in august..)

actually i've been studying for the past two weeks but somehow I feel like I'm not making any progress.

today I made a motivation playlist and it kinda helps me.

I know there’s still a week left, and that makes me anxious, but at the same time I try to put things in perspective and tell myself I still have time.

dear reader, you should know that I have four exams left to pass before I can graduate in September, and this is kind of my last chance because the school might refuse to let me re-enroll.

I’ve been hanging on to these studies for a while now and I’m still nowhere, but I have a feeling that this time it’s going to work out.

I can already picture myself in a master’s program, and I know what I want. when I think about what comes next, I feel like crying with joy because I’ve never been this close to my goal. but at the same time, I want to cry out of sadness because if I don’t succeed… I might slip back into a really deep depression, and I really don’t want that.

there are also so many factors that make me feel truly hopeful this time, and I feel supported by my friends and family and I’m afraid of disappoint them too..

please give me your best advice or any words of encouragement, it would really help me.

P-S: I’m currently writing a few articles and I can’t wait to share them with you!

just two more episodes and I'll have finished Gilmore Girls for the first time

grateful

I love coming here and taking the time to read all your blogs. it really makes me so happy and grateful to have this little corner where I can relax and chat with other girlies.

even though I could do that with my friends idk I really love the vibe of blogs and having my own little space where I can say whatever I want whenever I want. it helps me thrive, it’s really what I needed that journaling can’t quite offer (human interaction). love you all!

my favourite movie in the entire world

film review : Love, Rosie

i'm so excited to talk about this movie because it's my favourite EVER!!! i actually bought it on youtube on my birthday last year because I was tired of not finding it on any streaming platform (maybe you don't know it yet, i'm a huge defender of physical media so i plan to buy a dvd player and buy all of my favourite movies).

when I tell you that it's my favourite movie, I really don't play about it, I don't even know how many times I've watched it and I know EVERY SINGLE LINE, WITH THE BRITISH ACCENT !!

synopsis:
Rosie and Alex have been best friends since they were 5, so they couldn't possibly be right for each other--or could they? When it comes to love, life and making the right choices, these two are their own worst enemies.

if you read my review on People We Meet on Vacation, you already know that I am a huge fan of friends to lovers and miscommunication tropes. maybe it's because I've experienced them myself 🫣 but you know that in movies, it's way better.  let's deep-dive into it !

‪‪❤︎‬ the pacing and the years passing: what gets me every single time with this movie is the amount of bad timing. they miss each other by literal minutes, letters and years. watching them grow up, make mistakes and navigate life while still holding that invisible bond between them makes the payoff so worth it.

"we just keep missing each other, maybe we're just not meant to be" - Rosie Dunne

❤︎‬ my favourite scenes and the soundtrack: i absolutely love the soundtrack of this film, and one of my favourites scenes is the one where we hear the song "fuck you" by lily allen. one of my other favourite scenes is the moment rosie comes to boston and when Alex writes her a letter.

"you deserve someone who loves you with every single beat of his heart" - Alex Stuart

❤︎‬ the chemistry: Lily Collins and Sam Claflin literally carried this movie. their chemistry feels so effortless, genuine, and raw. you can truly feel their friendship through the screen before even seeing the romantic tension build up.

❤︎‬ i need ruby as my best friend: can we talk about ruby for a second? she is literally the comedy backbone of this entire movie. her dry delivery, her unfiltered one-liners, and the way she roasts rosie back into reality whenever she’s about to make a questionable life decision... absolute gold. we all need a best friend who can deliver harsh truths while making us wheeze with laughter.

"It is so great having you as a friend. I mean, every time something goes wrong in my life, all I've got to do is look at yours and it puts everything into perspective." - Ruby

i could add a lot of things about this film like the camera work, the lights, the actor's performances but it's gonna be to long. anyway, if you're looking for a film that will make you laugh out loud, scream at your screen, and cry happy tears all in 90 minutes, put this on tonight, it will be 100% worth it.

my rating: 1000000000 ⭐️

let me know in the comments what is your ultimate confort film!!

book review

book review : People We Meet on Vacation by Emily Henry

if you know me, you know i looove the friends-to-lovers trope and miscommunication tropes. so, it came as absolutely no surprise that i ended up flying through People We Meet on Vacation by Emily Henry.

Synopsis : People We Meet on Vacation by Emily Henry follows Alex Nilsen and Poppy Wright, two best friends who met at the University of Chicago and spent years taking an annual summer trip together, until a falling out in Croatia left them no longer speaking. Told through alternating flashbacks and a present day timeline, the story unpacks the evolution of their friendship, the slow burn tension, and the almost relationship that never quite crossed the line. (source:bookishgoblin.com)

i began my reading in a park and it was wonderful

what i loved most about Emily Henry's writing is how she handles Poppy's internal journey. on the surface, Poppy seems to have it all: a dream job in New York, constant travel, and a vibrant lifestyle. but as the story unfolds, you realize her obsession with traveling started back in Linfield as a way to escape feeling like an outsider.

the realization that traveling doesn't make her happy anymore without Alex and that he is the only person who makes her feel truly seen is what gives this book its emotional core. that confrontation when she finally admits her feelings and her fear of being alone was easily one of the most touching moments in the story.

the chapter structure seamlessly alternates between their present-day reunion trip and past vacations over the last decade. you watch their friendship evolve from awkward college acquaintances to inseparable soulmates, all while an overwhelming, unspoken tension builds underneath every joke.

if you get frustrated by characters who simply refuse to have an honest two-minute conversation about their feelings, this book will definitely test your patience! but for me, the slow-burn and fear of ruining a lifelong friendship is exactly what makes the trope work.

a note on the adaptation

if this title is sitting on your reading list, i strongly recommend reading the book first.

i actually watched the film adaptation first, which put my brain on constant comparison mode while reading. while the book gives you so much more depth into Poppy's inner thoughts and emotional growth, i did appreciate a few tweaks in the movie:

♥ the setting: while the book's reunion takes place in palm springs, the film shifts it to barcelona, which added a really romantic European atmosphere.

♥ the pacing: the film condenses their many book destinations into four main trips, making the storyline a bit tighter, though you lose some of the subtle character development present in the novel.
final verdict

♥ my favourite scenes: the confession under the rain, the moment Poppy runs towards Alex and has a monologue and the Norway trip have a special place in my heart.

my rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

have you read the book yet, or did you start with the adaptation like i did? drop your thoughts in the comments below!

album review

album review: Icon by Brent Faiyaz

i want to make my first album review about an album that has been with me since the beginning of the year

ICON by BRENT FAIYAZ (click here !)

☆★Tracklist ★☆

1. white noise.
2. wrong faces.
3. have to.
4. butterflies.
5. other side.
6. strangers.
7. world is yours.
8. four seasons.
9. pure fantasy.
10. vanilla sky.

Icon is smooth, nostalgic, and classic brent. production-wise, the album is packed with heavy basslines, sultry ambient pads, and those signature buttery-smooth vocal harmonies. it’s moody, and tailor-made for late-night drives, fake scenarios in your head, a chill study session or overthinking about your past situationship.. :)

tracks on my rotation
here are the tracks that immediately stole my heart and are living rent-free in my playlists:

★ butterflies. : the first part of the track just instantly puts me at ease, and the lyrics capture that exact universal feeling of falling for someone when everything is still unsaid. it perfectly translates that ambiguous stage between two people : the unspoken tension, the excitement, and that quiet anxiety of asking yourself "or should i chill?" before knowing if the feelings are mutual.

★ vanilla sky. : this song brings such a deep, existential layer to the whole record. asking whether a feeling is "short term or for life" or whether it's "a safe space to lead with honesty" perfectly captures that hesitation of wanting to be real with someone, without knowing if it's actually safe to drop your guard and show that side of yourself.

★ other side. : other side is pure nostalgia. what makes this track special is that classic old-school R&B vibe that immediately pulls you in the smooth melodies, the dreamlike atmosphere, and those hopeless romantic lyrics about seeing someone in your dreams ("you must be from the other side, cause i saw you in my dreams last night"). it just creates that effortless, warm soundscape that makes you want to hit replay.

rating:

i'm so glad i chose this album for my very first review here on the blog!

what are your personal thoughts on the record? do you agree with my top three, or are you looping different tracks? leave your recommendations in the comments!

august ritual

hi again !
i wanted to share quickly this channel because it’s part of my daily routine during the month of August.

in fact, every august, this french youtuber named Lena Situations posts a video every day (daily vlog), and this is her 10th summer in a row. she'll be wrapping it up at the end of this month.

i love watching these vlogs because they’re a burst of positive energy and a daily ritual i look forward to.

letting go

ugh i want to write, but i don't know where to start. plus, i'm afraid of spamming posts and being annoying, even though i created this page specifically for that: so i can write whatever i want, whenever i want, as often as i want...

i just need to loosen up and let myself go.

welcome !

hi everyone, it's little deer ! πŸ’Œ

welcome to my cozy corner of the internet.
I’m so excited to finally launch this blog ! you can call me Deerie (a nickname derived from my actual name) :)
i'm a 20-something pop culture enthusiast with a severe passion for music (mostly pop & r&b), movies, shows, football (visca barça!), and all things fandom.

english isn't my native language, so please excuse any tiny mistakes along the way ! I mainly created this space to practice my writing while yapping about everything living in my head rent-free.

when I'm not overanalyzing my latest cinematic obsession or repeating the same song on loop for three days straight, you can usually find me hunting for graphic tees, expanding my physical media collection, or deep-diving into random rabbit holes.

here is what you can expect:
  • music & album reviews: track breakdowns, cd finds, and current playlist rotations
  • honest media rants: opinions on movies, shows, and books
  • fandom deep-dives: overanalyzing my latest obsessions and sharing my favorite theories
  • cozy life updates: current hyperfixations, thoughts, concerns, etc.
  • aaand many more...

thank you so much for stopping by ! grab a drink, make yourself at home, and let’s fangirl together!
